Into Thin Air

I have accomplished, really, nothing else today but read Into Thin Air. Yesterday, as I was poking around mountaineering docs on Netflix, I came across the IMAX film Everest. First, it's weird to see something filmed for IMAX on an iPad. But here's the weird thing: that was filmed during the events described during Into Thin Air. The IMAX team was at Camp Two, and was integral to the rescue efforts. They talk about it in the IMAX film, though not too long--wouldn't want to be morbid for the IMAX crowd. And they continue up the mountain themselves.

It's weird to get two different versions of the same story--one sanitized for a family audience, the other the raw catharsis of someone who still can't wrap his mind around what happened.
