While at my parents, with access to TV again, I have found myself sucked in to watching this ridiculous show called Obsessed with the Dress. It is an "unscripted" reality show about a store that sells pageant dresses in Omaha, Nebraska, run by the former Miss Nebraska. "Unscripted" in only the most strict interpretation of the word--clearly the entire progression of the season and all of the scenes have been carefully plotted out.
There is the weaselly, backstabbing villain (played by a guy who is simultaneously extremely out in affect but very closeted when interacting with the gay community--it's bizarre and fascinating to watch), his mean girl minion, the bad-ass alterna-girl rival, the naive and immature youngest employee caught in the middle, and the well-intentioned, knowledgeable, but (I'm sure scriptedly so) oblivious manager. And of course, since this is the pageant world, everyone is viciously competitive. And there are lots of ridiculously gem-encrusted silk chiffon dresses.
This show is like whip cream and I am totally addicted. It comes on at 11, at which point I'd be telling myself to get up and go to bed, then next thing I know it's midnight and I'd watched the whole episode. So now that I am back in the realm of no TV I gave in and got a season pass. I HAVE TO SEE HOW IT ENDS OMG.
Is anyone else watching this? Am I completely alone in my no-nutritional-value-but-doesn't-leave-feeling-like-a-creep-like-most-other-reality-shows reality show?
