Regained mobility
Oct. 10th, 2005 11:00 amMy tire is flat no longer! At the eleventh hour I discovered my AAA card, which expires at the end of the month, so I took full advantage of the service and had a tow truck come and put the spare on. I was going to do it myself (I swear!) daunted only by the utter lack of muscles, but it was pouring rain. It took about an hour and a half for the guy to show (something to keep in mind for future breakdowns), and then it took him all of five minutes to switch the tire. I don't think I could have done it quite that fast. Then I took it to Sears where they patched the flat (it had a screw in it) and put it back on. Then parked my car outside in the rain with the window cracked. Grrr! Good thing I have a towel in the car. They also managed to coat the back of my steering wheel, my parking break and my gear shift in black gunk. Enough so that by driving it a quarter mile I got black lines on my pants and dirty hands. I don't know what these guys had on their hands. Yick.
But - bottom line - I am vehicularly mobile again. I fact that I celebrated by a much-needed trip to the supermarket. I like my car. I really do. Except when it's being an annoying piece of s***.
