ivyficOne more thing re: Apocalypse Now. Man, did Francis Ford Coppola marry the right woman. She is the documentarian of Hearts of Darkness. She says Francis asked her to make the documentary, she suspects to give her something to do while in the Philipines. Given the fact that Francis moved them there for three years, with young children, and hocked everything they owned for the movie, you might think Eleanor Coppola might have been angry with him. But no. In the documentary, she says she was a bit uncomfortable with the fortune after Godfather anyway. And she married a creative man--she had faith in his talent. If he lost it on this, he'd make it back again. She seems throughout to be just as willing to go on this journey as he was, because it wasn't just him having this experience, she was too.
The DVD also had another documentary that she made, this time on his film Youth Without Youth, which I'd never heard of. But that means she's still with him on his journey. It's really sweet, actually.
