Unfortunate names

I just wrote a letter to someone who's last name is Love-Cook. On the envelope, though, part of one of the O's had worn away. I spent a whole minute looking at it going - no. No. No one would voluntarily take that as a last name.

"Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Mrs. Love-Cock."

I just learned that Nicholas Cage's son has been given the name "Kal-el Coppola Cage". That kid's either gonna be messed up or he's going to take over the world.

Kal-El? Seriously? At least you can call him Cal for short.

I am seriously opposed to hyphenated names. Take one or the other last name, or blend them into a new name, or make up a new name out of nowhere. Or keep your original names. But don't hyphenate, seriously.

(Because, if nothing else, if everyone hyphenated their names, what would the grandkids be called?)
