As we left the theater on Friday, I pondered to chuckro on how long he thought it would be before somebody wrote a fic about River watching Kaylee and Simon have sex. Well, I've just seen that fic. I'm sure it's not the only one...

I could link you to it, if you want. There was this girl Tara LJC or something who wrote a really great story called "Eros and Agape" about River not watching but feeling Simon and Kaylee together. It's tainted with the CSI. I haven't read a post-Serenity fic of that nature, so if this is different from the one I'm talking about, I'd read it. I can stomach the CSI when it's from River's POV because, well, she's nuts.

The one I saw was called "Vicarious" - same idea. That's a canon idea, anyway. In Objects in Space, you see River getting a little hot and heavy when she goes past Wash and Zoe.

That makes perfect sense, given her "abilities" apparently including some empathic/telepathic powers. What's more surprising, of course, is that something like that could get past network censors. (Though I don't really remember it; it must have been pretty subtle.)

I would say I'm surprised that no one's written fic about other crew members having sex and River getting off in the next room; but then I realize that it's probably been written...

It was subtle, yes, but it was also completely clear what was going on. I'm just surprised that everyone else on the boat hasn't figured out yet that River can't help but be a voyeur on their sexual exploits. I can just imagine a scene where a mortified Simon catches a clue.

"Eros and Agape" is the title I hate, not "Vicarious", in case that wasn't clear.
