Or, why I love Netflix.

I'm beginning to see just what behind-the-scenes decisions led to Andromeda sucking. I watched "The Lone and Level Sands" last night. This episode features about 15 years of Dylan running around the Bellerephon shooting stuff. Bo-ring. And in order to make room for this, they deleted a thirty-second scene (on the DVDs) in which Harper and Rommie explain why they're here, what this ship is, and why the crew haven't aged. Yeah, taking out all the exposition for an extended (badly done) fight scene - that makes perfect sense. I remember a time when you could go an entire episode without any hand-to-hand combat.

This episode is only somewhat redeemed by Harper breaking the news of Earth's devastation to one of the Bellerephon's crew members. This is the second time he's done this (he told Dylan in the first ep) and I have to say - the guy has no tact at all. But that's why we love him.

I'm way behind on Andromeda; I stopped watching it in the second season but I kept recording it. Things like this are what keep it at the bottom of my "To Watch" pile.

Even in season 2, it was beginning to turn into the "Kevin Sorbo action hour." As a fan I want to see everything once in case there's interesting world-building or character development, but it really is crap starting in season 3. The last good episode is "The Knight, Death, and the Devil" - and, well, we all know how much I love that episode. It's fantastic.

Totally random, but - did you know that Wash is currently playing Lancelot on Spamalot?

Yes, actually, I did. Malibu is good for stuff like that.
