OKAY GODDAMMIT I'M GOING AGAIN.

It may lessen the original experience, it may puncture the surprise and wonder of it all, or it may just reveal new corners of it. I don't know. So that's why I'm going--to find out.

mithras03 and I will be going to the early show on 10/21. (10/22 has sold out--sorry feiran!) If anyone else wants to go, there still seem to be tickets.

I don't know if this is a good decision or a really really bad one. Now excuse me while I go do four hours of proofreading to make up for what I just spent.

I'm going to be out of the country that weekend anyway, but I think I'm good with my one run-through.

I am not sure if I'm good with one run through. Which is why I'm going again. I may end up at the bar. I don't know. I just feel like--this is what I'd want a holonovel to be, you know? And since such a thing doesn't exist, I'd better take advantage of what does. I'll just make sure to hydrate and sleep well the night before.

In Star Trek, they're more like LARPing, which I don't think I'd like. I'd always be like wait--what's my line? If I bought a holonovel, I'd want it to be just like this--where you can wander around and see the story happening.

One of the things I liked about this is the scenes never really end, cause the actors are never offstage. It acknowledges that the characters have a life beyond what is shown in a traditional narrative. I remember being told this in an acting class, back when I thought I was good at that. Think about the fact that from the time the character leaves the stage and the time they come back, they were doing something. They didn't just cease to exist. And in this, they're always doing something.

One of the things I really liked was unexpectedly finding yourself in a scene you'd already seen before, because you were following a different character. So it was like, oh, that's where you came from!

That was how I confirmed the play looped, actually. I suspected it did, but I wasn't certain until I hit the orgy again from a separate path.

The only thing I caught twice, actually was the banquet. I saw it about halfway through and then at the end. Everything else I only saw once.

I hit the banquet scene three times from three different directions. But how I figured out it looped was when I actually saw Lady Macbeth reset. She literally dragged me through the cemetary with her robe mostly around her waist, got to the bathtub in the bedroom, and then slowly calmed down, hung up the robe, put on her negligee and began the sequence again.

Yay! I have to wait a whole month. I'm passing the time by watching different versions of Macbeth (thank you, Netflix) and listening to the Psycho and Vertigo soundtracks.

Oh! Is this that odd Shakespearean thing? I was vaguely fascinated but didn't realize people were actually going to it!
