Hello internet! I haven't checked a computer or looked at a TV or talked on the phone or heard the news or read anything other than a guidebook (or worn makeup) in two weeks! I think it will be impossible to actually get through the livejournal backlog, so if something spiffing happened, link me to it. (This also means I completely missed yuletide, so recs?)

No need to look through my LJ! I did have one question for you, though: I seem to remember you read an excellent book on sex in film or something. Do you a) happen to have any idea what I'm talking about, and b) would you be able to give me the title?

Are you talking about The Celluloid Closet? It is a history of representations of gays in cinema. It's actually a documentary (which I've seen) as well as a book (which I own but haven't read). If this is what you're thinking of, I can lend you my copy of the book.

That must be what I'm thinking of. I was looking for a broader history of sex in film--I went to the Museum of Sex, which was mostly about that topic--but I'll certainly read that one, too. I'm sure any book that is generally about sex in cinema will probably give gay sex the short shrift. It would be a great supplemental.

Don't forget to post pictures! Or, you know, schedule the four-hour slide show. I would actually be interested!
