I have been watching season one of Fringe and enjoying it so far, but I just have to share these nitpicks because they bug the hell out of me.

- In "Unleashed," Olivia goes to a lab that experiments on animals and asks them if they have any genetically altered animals. The lab director says no, no, nothing like that. o.O Dude--I don't know the percentage, but most if not all of lab animals are genetically altered. They need to be to control variations between different genetics. Yes, she was asking if he was creating any giant gene-spliced monsters, but you've got to be kidding me.

- Also in "Unleashed," Walter concludes that if they trick the monster larva into thinking they're in the parent, they will commit suicide rather than feed. Why the hell would you expect that to work? In such a situation, evolution would favor offspring that consumed their parents. There is no evolutionary advantage to offspring choosing to die rather than kill the parent. Which is why offspring do kill parents in some species.

- And in "Bad Dreams" Walter is using a geiger counter, and even as he says, "Nothing, not a rad," it is clicking away merrily.

I know these are minor points on a science fiction show, but I'm generally willing to let pass the reality bending stuff. It's when they fuck up the small stuff that...grrrrr

You may not be able to, but I've found it's best to view Fringe as a fantasy show.

I demand internal consistency from my fantasy, too.

I'd expect the lab director to lie anyway.

Maybe the larvae aren't into cannibalism.

Not sure why Walter can't read a Geiger counter, but he isn't always the most reliable scientist...
