Aug. 22nd, 2010 08:16 pmI am rewatching The Mummy. Now that I know something about Egypt, wow this is so crap! Everything they could possibly have gotten wrong they got wrong. Five canopic jars. They mummify people alive...without the mummifying part. You know, the seventy days in natron that actually dries them out. It refers to a Book of the Dead...and it's a book (there were no books then--it was a scroll). They refer to Seti I (Ramses II's father), but show them building the great sphinx at Giza. Even though that happened two thousand years previously, and they're in Thebes. ARGH. Everything out of their mouths is wrong! I may have ruined this pinnacle of movie-making artistry for myself.
Also, I bought a set so I'd have the sequel. I must not have opened the DVD before because it seems like I also now have a copy of the Scorpion King. Greeeeat.

Date: 2010-08-23 01:52 am (UTC)I have seen Scorpion King in college. I don't really feel the need to see it again (even if the version I saw was pirated and of crap quality).
