I'm halfway through season 1 of Legend of the Seeker, and man, this show is fucked up. Half the episodes are about bratty children with hearts of gold and the other half are kinky BDSM torture porn.

The thing that amazes me is the juxtaposition--one week they have the kinkiest thing I've ever seen on network tv, I mean holy crap, and then the next week most of the screen time is devoted to the endearingly perfect despite her unimaginable history of abuse ten-year-old whipping girl. The show's either about hard core issues of noncon and dub con and binding men to be your sexual slaves or...it's about kids (complete with lines like "he's wormed his way into your heart, just like he has into mine"). It's so weird.

I also kind of love the episode with Kalen's sister, where she's like "Well, I took away this guy's free will anyway, so I figured I might as well fuck him!" and everyone's like "good choice." And then the rest of the episode, the sister treats the dude like her one true love, instead of her slave. And if they have rules about drowning baby boys, you'd think they'd have rules for dealing with all these confessed fathers when the mothers die.
