HQN vs RWA

ivyficI posted a few weeks ago (I tried to find this post and failed--clearly my entry tagging needs work) about Harlequin launching a self-publishing line...that they advertise to authors they reject. I was not the only one a little leery of this.
In fact, the RWA has taken Harlequin off their list of approved publishers. Holy fucking shit.
This week, the MWA (Mystery Writers of America--yes, Harlequin has a number of prominent mystery authors) also took Harlequin off their list of approved publishers. This means that, going forward, Harlequin authors will not be eligible for Edgar Awards.
Again, I say. Holy fucking shit.
