Super eavesdropping power ahoy

I was watching a bit of a Sentinel marathon on Sci Fi today (sorry, "Syfy"). I swear I only do these things while procrastinating. There was an ad on for a sonar headset thingy that lets you have superpowered hearing! And it's so inconspicuous--it just looks like a giant dorky headset. The ad kept showing people using it to eavesdrop, and the people were always saying great things about the listener: "I hope so-and-so is happy! He deserves it!" "She has such an amazing figure! I wish I looked like that!"

Clearly, some marketer out there had this product, and was like, who would want to buy this? I know! Sentinel fans! It's perfect! They all want to have super-hearing like Jim, right?????

Oh my god, The Sentinel. You're referring to the show that used to come on before Voyager, right? With Fiona Apple's brother as the sidekick? God, I had forgotten that show existed...

Yes, that show. I would probably never have seen it, either, except it's one of the grandaddy slash fandoms. I mean, the main characters are roommates and have pet names for each other? Kind of a gimme.

AHHH you're totally right, I can see the slash potential! Oh the horror. I guess we both learned something now didn't we. :)

I recall watch it every week before Voyager, but I have *no* recollection whatsoever as to whether it was any good. I remember it being unintentionally hilarious sometimes...

I would not call it good, no. Quite often unintentionally hilarious, though.

AHAHAHA - I've seen that ad on other stations too - SO ridiculous. What if you overhear someone saying something nasty? I mean, it's not all good all the time. :-P

My first thought was, if this super-duper picks up noises and its settings are lo and hi--wouldn't it deafen you?

Plus they have this whole "watch tv with the volume down!" pitch. They're called headphones.
