Two things. One: in the last episode of MMAS, were all the models sleeping on the floor in a puppy pile at the beginning? Did they not give them beds?

Two: I just saw an ad for "The Haunting in Connecticut" that had as a voiceover a creepy telling of "One bright morning in the middle of the night, two dead boys got up to fight." ... Really? I'm supposed to be frightened by a children's nonsense rhyme? (Also, Beaver from "Veronica Mars"--still got a little residual skeeviness.)

That brings back a memory. My step-dad used to recite it this way:

"Early in the morning
In the middle of the night
Two dead boys
Got up to fight.
Back to back
They faced each other
Drew their swords
And shot each other.
A deaf policeman
Heard the noise
And came and killed
The two dead boys."

I thought it was hysterically funny when I was little, but writing it out like this makes it seem rather grim and creepy, as though there's an allegory in there someplace, like in a nursery rhyme.

The version I know ended with "If you don't believe this lie is true/Go ask the blind man, he saw it all too." To me it was also hilarious--a nonsense rhyme. Right up there with "'I see,' said the blind man pissing in the wind. 'It all comes back to me.'"

So the idea of seriously trying to make it scary...amuses me.
