There are a number of election day giveaways today. Not just Starbucks, but Ben and Jerry's and Krispy Kreme (though the Krispy Kreme website won't tell you what stores are participating).

Someone put a sign up in our pantry, "Free Coffee if you Vote" ... over the coffee machine that's always free.

Due to federal election laws, it apparently is turning into a "Free coffee if you ask for it" promotion--lawyers pointed out that the original promotion could be considered illegal vote-buying.

Yeah, I saw that. It would pretty much be that anyway. It's not like you have proof of voting that you could present.

I got my free donut (which was slightly stale) and my free coffee. I'm not sure I want it, but I got it anyway! Nothing like the mindless consumption of consumer goods to make me feel American.
