ivyficWatched "Mean Girls" last night - fantastic movie - and I noticed something funny. The artsy girl (played by the actress who was Tina Greer in Smallville) is named Janis Ian in the movie. At first I thought this was a joke. Because Janis Ian is a 70's folk singer famous for the song "At Seventeen," which was on the soundtrack to the film. The song has lyrics like:
I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And High School girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired.
The Valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful

Entirely fitting for the movie, don't you think?
