So wait wait--they want to play this like DNA testing has somehow evolved to the point where we can pick out potential serial killers from their genetic markers? And this guy has them but hasn't actually killed anyone (insert not-so-subtle implication of "yet" here).

Gag.

I'd make a comment about jumping the shark, but I think CSI did that a season and a half ago or so.

Yeah, that was the moment I recoiled in horror.

Hard to say--Fishburne is a really good actor, so it'll depend upon the character and the writing. The genetic marker thing is silly, of course, but oh well.

Has the same DNA as a serial killer? Is it his twin? 'Cause didn't they do that plot already?

CSI: We're not content to misconstrue what forensic scientists are actually responsible for, we're after science itself!!

All those choices are bad - all of those actors are in some way iconic movie actors, and a move to CSI would be ridiculous. They would be seen as the actor and not the character. Whenever I (rarely) watch CSI New York, I can't get over the fact that it's Gary Sinise scowling on the television.

But don't you see? They fired the one black actor, they have to bring in a new one to balance out the cast.

Also, you're weird. CSI:NY? Feh.

Oh how very subtle of them (I've only ever watched CSI: NY when I've been in desperate straits - i.e. in another country when there's nothing else on :-P). Also, a piece of trivia for you - Feh is a brand of tissues in Austria. ;-)

The only thing I can think of is that they're trying to find some "icon" to trade out for their departing "icon," without thinking about what it will do to the fabric of the show. Also, Fishburne's general facial structure--long jaw, etc.--is not dissimilar to Billy's.

But, woe!

They have a cast of reputable actors all of whom (see Gum Drops) are capable of carrying the show themselves. Why oh why can't they let these men and women finish out the series in peace, allowed to shine a little on their own?

Yes, I totally think Greg should step in and run the lab. And now that the main on air romances have died, Nick can step in as the romantic lead. Oh, wait... Sorry, that was just the fanfic talking...
