Here's a turn for the bizarre. O.J. Simpson is being sued for plagiarism for "If I Did It." This raises a few questions:
-Can he be sued for a book that was ghost-written?
-Can he be sued even though he doesn't own the rights anymore?
-And if, for example, he had committed the murder as laid out in his book, would it still be plagiarism? Or would it just mean that the author of the self-published The Perfect Alibi: O.J. Simpson's Strategy for Murder was a really good guesser?

You know, I would love for this to be the first case of someone winning a libel suit by admitting to murder. :)

...Okay, I'll admit that I'm not entirely certain how double-jeopardy works, but even if he did confess to it now, he's already been tried for the crime once, right? So could he actually be prosecuted for anything other than maybe perjury?

It was a hung jury, though, right? So I believe he could. Let's wait for edgehopper to weigh in. :)

It was actually an acquittal, if I remember correctly. But yeah, let's wait for the law student to provide us with actual information.

You are right--it was an acquittal. I heard it on the radio in freshman biology class.

It was, which is why Nicole's family then brought a civil suit (which they won, which is why all of OJ's profits can't go to him personally - he still owes her family an obscene amount of money, I believe).
