ivyfic: (supernatural wwn)

I knew it. I frickin' knew it. As soon as Tamara opened her mouth I was having Doctor Who flashbacks. Guess why? She's Lisa on Torchwood. Yes, Tamara is the Cyberwoman. I have seen her in a metal thong. Oh god. My eyes.

*hem* Right. Supernatural.

Lots of love for this ep, but as usual, I will write about the flaws. For the seven deadly sins, they didn't really do enough. I mean--it's the seven deadly sins. There's gotta be more in there than that. Well, maybe not for network TV.

Now I have to invite the wank for a little bit.

OMG Mary Sue!!!!!eleven!!! OMG she's so mysterious! OMG she saves Sam's life! OMG she fights soooo much better than him! OMG she has super secret knife of ultimate power! OMG she knows who Sam is cause she's special! OMG she leaves mysteriously cause she's mysterious! OMG Sam wants to follow her because he is irresistibly drawn but she's mysteriously vanished mysteriously! OMG even Dean says she's the most awesomest fighter evar!!!!!

If she has eyes that change color and wears sparkles next time we see her I will kick my TV. Only no, I won't. I could not live without the thing. And it might hurt.

I'm not saying I hate her forever, I'm just saying that that was not the way to endear me to a new lead. So I'm just going to ignore the two minutes she was on the screen and wish the writers better luck next time.

And to not end on a complete downer: was it just me, or did Dean stage his menage a trois for Sam? I mean--he made sure Sam was watching then pulled pathetically see-through curtains and got the girl to come stand in front of them? We may now have canon proof that Sam's never seen Dean's junk before (which I find hard to believe even without the slash goggles, but hey. I lived with roommates for eight years and never saw any of them naked, even in one room doubles, so it's possible.) but now we have even more of a case that Dean wants Sam to join him on a, uh, double date.

I loved Dean in this. Outwardly saying he's fine with it, deep in denial. Fit perfectly with my prediction: that he wouldn't care what Sam thought as long as he was alive and that he would stop Sam from trying to break the deal. So hurrah for that last scene!

Yeah, I pegged Tamara as well--and then we checked IMDB afterward to be sure. But we definitely felt that the Seven Deadly Sins went down WAY too easily. I mean, they're the SEVEN DEADLY SINS!!!! And Bobby was making a big deal about "we've never faced anything like this--we can't take them!" Only, they did. Sure, they had the help of quasi-Buffy (Buffy Sue?) with her magic knife (made by Colt, I'm guessing, and I was wondering if she could actually BE a Colt. Sam and Dean are Winchesters--we've made jokes before about having other gun lineages as Hunters) but even so, it was too damn easy for them. We were expecting a two-parter out of them, at least.

So it was fun but not that strong of a season opener. We'll keep watching, of course.

And yes, I'm completely ignoring your second-to-last paragraph. :)

Oh, come on. Dean checks to see Sam is watching through the window, gives him the thumbs up, then brings the girl over. That doesn't strike you as odd?

Nope, not listening, la la la la.

What about when he suggested they go to Hollywood and hook up with Lindsay Lohan (together)? Or in Tall Tales when he told Sam that skeezy barfly chick had a sister?

I'd also like to point out--this is Dean's second canonical threesome.

I'm sorry, did you say something? I couldn't tell because I'M NOT LISTENING!

It might be interesting if she was a Colt, but would still smack of Mary Sue. At this point, I'm not sure what they could do that wouldn't set off my Mary Sue-dar. If she's a romantic lead for Sam? Or she has a fate just as important as Sam's? Or she had a childhood just as hard-ass as Sam's? All the directions I could see them taking the character all lead to Mary Sue.

My first thought was that she's a consequence of Dean's deal--either she's drawn to Sam because of it, or she was brought out of hell with Sam (a la season six of Buffy). I think I'd be okay with either of these, as they'd put her in conflict with the brothers. I'd also like to see more consequences for bringing Sam back. Yes, Dean knows he's giving up his soul, but what he did kind of broke reality. There should be other bad things coming.

And the seven deadly sins--what a frickin' waste. They could have been great recurring villains. We didn't even get to see wrath or greed in action. I also kind of loved their bar. It's the demon roadhouse! If hunter's have one, why wouldn't the baddies?

Oh I knew that actress looked familiar. Thanks for pointing that out.

I don't care one way or the other on the new girl yet, but you make a very good point. It's kind of an obnoxious way to introduce a new character and it does ring a little Mary Sue (mostly the magic-knife having). Maybe she can be like Sam's Tuxedo Mask. She can appear suddenly, save his life, say a haiku and then mysteriously disappear in a shower of rose petals. And Dean wouldn't really believe that she exists.

Ahem. Sorry.

Maybe what Sam was objecting to seeing was Dean getting it on with someone. I know if I saw either of my sisters like that I would be traumatized for a good long time. As for your theory, there was that time Dean basically suggested they have a threesome with Lindsey Lohan. o_O

Sam is going to have to find some way around the restriction to get Dean out of that deal eventually though. I can't really see Sam actually giving up on it.

[livejournal.com profile] regala_electra has suggested that thing Sam witnessed was rimming. :) That would be disturbing no matter who it was. And I still think Dean meant for Sam to walk in on them. I mean--he didn't lock the door?

That might actually make Dean a sex addict (the leaving the door open not the possible rimming). I don't know what Sam was thinking walking into a room where he knew Dean was likely having sex. He was just asking for trauma at that point. Sometimes I think they write these things just to tease the slashers. I know I would if I were the writers.
