For some completely unknown reason, I am not getting my copy of HP7 from amazon until August. You know what this means, f-list? DO NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT HARRY POTTER. I'm serious. I recognize the near impossibility of remaining unspoiled and I accept this but I'm warning you now that I probably won't finish it until September some time.

ETA: I feel the need to add I'm getting it on tape. I have not actually read a single Harry Potter book. Some of Rowling's written-out dialogue eccentricities bother me. And Jim Dale kicks ass. I listen to all of them on tape. Which means it takes me longer anyway.

You realize that 90% of your Harry Potter-reading friends will have finished the book in the first weekend, and could then loan it to you, right?

You could also cancel your pre-order and come to the midnight thing with me and all the other fanatics. Or cancel the pre-order and pick it up on Saturday at a more normal hour, because I'm sure there will be enough copies. Unless you're ordering from Amazon UK.

I'm leaning towards that. This is the first time I pre-ordered. In the past I always just went by a target or something. But as I added above, I'm getting it on tape, which is how I prefer, so it'll just take me awhile to get through anyway.

This is why I stopped ordering HP books from Amazon/B&N and started standing in line at midnight. August is *ridiculous*. But as Chuck points out, you'll be more than welcome to borrow it (though I think Dayle has first dibs on my copy if she doesn't buy one of her own).

Speaking of spoilers, apparently someone's taken photographs of every page of Deathly Hallows and put them online, and other people are going around posting intentional spoilers in unexpected places online just for the sake of ruining other people's fun, so step carefully--FL people may not be the ones to look out for. :P

Oh, I've heard about all this. The AP has also said they have a general policy of not writing about plot developments in the book, unless it "becomes a story," so they say. I fully expect to see HARRY POTTER DIES as a headline on Saturday morning.

I generally just read my own fl, and I trust it to have spoilers behind cuts, I'm just giving a general announcement that trying to discuss the book with me will be pointless for a while.

Yeah, I was weak and already downloaded and read it. I'll be good about keeping all spoilers under tag.

However, if the coverage of the Sopranos finale was any indication, you won't last through Sunday without seeing spoilers in the newspaper. Time to become a hermit?

It's okay, I've been notoriously anti-Potter and am just reading the books for the first time now (mostly because my 12 year old sister keeps HARPING and I promised to take her to the Midnight Magic thing). So don't worry, you're not alone.

Oh, I'm not anti-Potter, I love Harry Potter. Harry Potter for me just sounds like Jim Dale.

They still make tape?

Yes, smart-ass.

My mother has all of those, too. She loves Jim Dale - although she reads all the books too.

I'm trying to stay spoiler free as well, so you won't hear anything from me. :p

Did you see the article in the NYTimes about Jim Dale?

You know, I think I never did listen to HP6 on book on tape. I'd probably have liked it better if I had.
