You know how smell is the sense most linked to memory? I use Bath & Body Works soaps, and since variety is the spice of life, I rotate through half a dozen different scents. The result is, every time I start using a new bottle, the smell reminds me of the last time I was using that scent.

In my case, that means fandoms. The White Tea & Ginger soap to me is Hercules: the Legendary Journeys. Today I switched to Brown Sugar & Fig, and have discovered that that's linked to Highlander. Yes, my brain is wired to track the epochs of my life by which fandom I was interested in at the time.

That's not so weird. The smell of spring (you know that certain fresh scent you get in the air in April and May) alway evokes exteme Babylon 5 nostalgia for me, especially for certain episodes that I watched originally one particular spring when I was really getting back into the show after losing track of it for a little while. Also air conditioning makes me nostalgic for Japan. o_O

Muggy Florida weather always makes me think of Harry Potter. I listened to the first four novels on tape during walks one summer I was living with my parents. Every time I step off the plane it's like--ah! Harry Potter!

Heh I link hot muggy weather to HP too. Partly because almost all the books came out in the summer time, but particularly because when the 5th book came out I was living in a tiny little dorm room at work (long story) which was an oven no matter what temperature it was outside so I would escape to the campus to read until I ran out of sunlight.
