F-list, you have let me down.

Off the top of my head, I can name five SGA fics where John or Rodney believe the other one is dead but he isn't really. Hair-pulling, wall-punching, funeral and all (hey, I didn't say they were good, just that I could name a bunch of them). In Supernatural, we have encountered several beings that can change the perception of reality, so where are all the "Sam or Dean believes his brother dead, but no, wait, he's really not" fics? I've seen (hell, I've written) fic where one of them is dead, I've read fic where one is missing and the other is worried he might be dead (hello? Have you seen the show? I don't even need to revert to fic for that), but not a-one where one of the brothers is honestly convinced the other one is dead.

It must be out there. I refuse to believe that this fandom has escaped that particular cliche. So where are you all squirreling it away?
