Nov. 18th, 2013 03:57 pmOh god, I have horrible time management skills.
I have a fic-over. I have fallen down a well of infidelity fic. It doesn't help that the deliciously hurty 35,000 word fic I rushed home from school to finish had a 35,000 word kind of AU retelling. So now it is 4 o'clock and...crap.
I had a hankering for infidelity fic a few days ago, so I went to AO3 and looked through tags. (Actually, I had a hankering for best friends where one friend sleeps with someone the other one has a long, difficult history with, but it isn't actually a love triangle, it's more an issue of emotional loyalty fic, but there aren't exactly tags for that.) Weirdly, "partner betrayal" mostly brings up Sentinel. "Infidelity" is mostly Teen Wolf and Hockey RPF, but I'm figuring that's a factor of those being big fandoms right now. I mean, I would expect to see more fandoms with canonical infidelity under that tag--you know, like Merlin. Or fandoms where the preferred pairing required infidelity from the canonical relationship--like Sherlock Holmes (books), or, you know, any pairing involving Tony Stark and not Pepper. But no, it's mostly Teen Wolf and hockey RPF.
What was I meant to be doing? Oh right. Online lecture on tax depreciation. Joy.
