As of right now, I have no freelance obligations! Woo! Of course, clear away those and you find a whole nother layer of obligations underneath.
For the concert on Saturday, we're singing, among other things, that classic drinking song "Vive L'Amour." I know this well cause I sang it at camp, and have been having to refrain myself from shouting "hey!" at the end of every line. The verses are different, though. Just out of curiosity, I looked up the lyrics we sang at camp (yes, I have booklets with all the camp songs in them in my apartment, shut up).
The original:
Let Bacchus and Venus libations pour forth/Vive la compagnie!
And let us make use of our time while it lasts/Vive la compagnie!
Etc., etc. Fairly tame, but a drinking song nonetheless.
The camp version of course had lyrics about campers and friendship and what not, and then there's the last verse:
Come fill up your glasses with water so clear/Vive la compagnie!
With clinking of glasses and best of cheer/Vive la compagnie!
Yeah, we're toasting, but it's water. Water. Clear water even. Maybe milk. No alcohol here, nooooo.
