Apr. 2nd, 2006 01:54 amSomebody please explain the New York subway system to me. Use small words. Cause every time I try to go up to the Columbia area on a weekend, I wind up someplace new and different and not where I wanted to be. It's like playing subway roulette.
Last time I went I took the B/D (or the F/V or whatever - you know, the orange line) and it went express without telling me and next thing I know I'm at 137th.
Today I decided not to make the same mistake so I switched from the PATH to the 1 at Christopher. Except it wasn't a 1 train, it was a 2 train cause the 1 is all fucked up. But it was a 2 train going local, so I figured I was safe.
Until I got out at 110th Street. And Lenox.
As soon as I saw the park I knew I was in trouble. There's nothing like emerging from the subway after dark when you have no idea where you are but are clearly in Harlem. I mistakenly walked East for a block until I saw the sign for 5th Avenue. So I turned around and walked all the way to Amsterdam, all the while thinking where the fuck am I?
On the way back I made
trinityvixen walk me to the subway to make sure I got on the right one. And now I have a blister for walking so damn far in sandles.
