Fuckin' A, man. I went home pretty needlessly as it turns out. My Dad only suggested I try doing my own taxes on paper, and it seems I am in the hole to the government for about $700 between state and federal. I confirmed this to be the case against Lisa's taxes (she had more withheld last year than I did, which, even though she makes more, explains a lot).

I need to go in and bitch at the HR people. I've just about worked up the nerve, too.

...why do you need to bitch at HR? Under-withholding isn't a bad thing. It just means you're earning interest on that money instead of letting the government hold it until you file for a refund.
