Last night I dreamt I was a drug-addicted Horatio Hornblower. I was also a trucker. The drugs seemed to be prozac-like, the result of losing my team on a mission, but when I wrote the mission report, instead of it being a one page summary, it was a 46-page novella in Italian. Perhaps explaining why the PTB in my dream felt it necessary to put me on drugs.

Trucker, druggie Hornblower.

Who wants to write that AU?

That's an awesome dream. I'd love to know what Horatio did in his past lives to merit the life of a trucker.

I realized after I posted this that there actually is a drug-addicted Hornblower AU (http://www.inlovewithnight.com/luckdied.html). It's good, too. And by looking up that url, I see that there are now sequels. Eeeee!

Also, Hornblower's truck in the dream had a sunroof, but you couldn't open it from inside the cab because it was velcro-ed on. That's all kinds of a bad idea for a truck.

This is all kinds of badness in its own right. People and their AU crackfic. In this case, literally, but still! People! Stop polluting the internets and the original fandoms, durn it.

Then again, I'm the one who likes a show that is crackfic--it's so much its own crackfic that the cast and crew weren't allowed to read like fanfic lest someone think they cribbed their ideas...

AU's aren't necessarily crackfic... And this one is one of my favorite HH stories period (though you should read Racket Boys (http://www.inlovewithnight.com/racketboys.html) first).

I might give it a perusal. I really don't read HH fic, though. It's like, too historical for that. I know that doesn't make sense, but, er, yeah, that's sort of my reason.

Yeah, AUs aren't crackfic. They're usually emo fic!
