Law and Order has betrayed me.

I flip on the TV figuring to watch the last forty minutes of something while I eat dinner, and, of course, Law and Order's on, so I go for that. I get to the end of the episode and the dreaded "To Be Continued" card shows up. I figure, OK, I'll watch the second part just because I hate feeling all unresolved, and I'll still have plenty of time to get some work done. I get to the end of hour two... To Be Continued. !!!?!?!??! I stumbled upon a three-part Law and Order saga? WTF? I like L+O because there are no continuing arcs and I won't be tempted to just watch the next episode. If I'd known it was a three-parter (and it didn't even have the decency to be called Pt 1, Pt 2, Pt 3 in the title so the little episode description on my Directv didn't give any indication that it was one enormous story) I would have just watched Without a Trace. Instead, Law and Order finally relinquishes me at 11 o'clock at which point it's pointless to try to get any work done. Grrrrr. Dick Wolf, I hate you.

hahahah! law and order RULES! without a trace is a dumb show - i find the characters to be quite stupid, and the fact that every time i see the show, when someone goes missing, it has to do with something that they did that was somehow wrong/illegal requiring them to go missing rather than you know, that they're just missing. the continuing eps of l&o are the best! i feel no pity for you and your "predicament." :-P i wish i had been caught in that situation. :-D (what episode was it? and which law and order?)

I agree Without a Trace is a dumb show. The blond girl seriously annoys me, the plots are convoluted and stupid... ugh. But it's not always their fault - I saw one where the person was actually an undercover cop.

The Law and Order three-parter was D-Girl, Turnaround and Showtime. See? No indication in the titles that they're connected.

Ah, I understand the three-parter agony. However, I was lucky with the first DS9 three-parter, because I had the DVDs....so I guess this actually isn't a consolation, huh? Hmmm.....:note to self: Make sure cheering up LJ friends consists of actual cheer! :)

Normally I love me a good three-part (or season-long) story arc. The particular irony of this is that Law and Order almost never has those, so I watch it when I don't want to get drawn in to a larger story.

If I wanted long, complicated story arcs, well, I have seasons 1-7 of X-Files.
