Trance explains it all

For those of you out there who were fans of Andromeda, you probably know the sordid history of Robert Hewitt Wolfe: RHW was the executive producer of Andromeda for the first two seasons. He created most of the universe and the main story and character arcs. He was always interested in making a high-concept scifi show. The production company, on the other hand, wanted to make it the Kevin Sorbo action hour. The tension between those two forces - big literary themes vs. blowing shit up - is what makes it a good show for two seasons.
At the end of season 2, RHW was fired. At this point, most Andromeda fans found themselves watching the show each week going what? What? Huh? The fuck? That doesn't make any frickin'... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!? The carefully constructed plot arcs fell to shit, Trance became a fortune cookie and the whole thing crumpled like a tissue-paper house of cards in the rain.
Well, on crack_van last week, I found this:
Andromeda - Coda
It is purportedly by Robert Hewitt Wolfe himself, which I am inclined to believe (just look at the web address), but in the vagaries of the internet, one can never be sure.
This is basically RHW's fanfic for his own show. Or rather, the show the network stole away from him. It's just a scene between Trance and Harper, but in it, Trance explains everything. Really - everything. It's a little cracked out, and I doubt this is what would have happened had RHW continued to run the show, but it's clearly the intention he had when he created it. This is the mythology of Andromeda. And suddenly everything makes sense - the spirit of the Abyss, the Engine of Creation, even Trance's blithering about "the perfect possible future."
So if you are even slightly an Andromeda fan, go read this. I now have a sense of closure about the debacle that was the last three seasons of that damn show.
