I have to say, how cool is this?

Nice of National Geographic to wait until Holy Week to make the announcement, though. Anyone want to place bets on how long it will take Dan Brown to write a best-seller on this (now that the charges against him have been dismissed, finally)?

hey! yes, it is awesome, isn't it? as a side note, the temple church, featured prominently in "the da vinci code" (the one with the knights buried in the floor - and yes, they're really there), is about a two minute walk from me over here, and they have a talk every friday given by the master of the temple (head of the church) on the book. i went one friday (the church is beautiful), and he went into a little bit of depth about gnosticism, and emphasized, somehow, that the most fervent gnostics of the modern age were the nazis (not that they defined themselves as such, but that they, by there very nature, were so). now i don't know that much about gnosticism (i didn't take pagels' class), so i don't know how accurate that is. overall, the talk was interesting, and presented another view of how all this stuff worked out (he of course denied the whole jesus/mary magdalene thing, but said that the book was a fantastic read, and that he enjoyed watching tom hanks trip over the graves of the knights in take after take when they had filmed there :-P).
