Now that I am close to being finished with the Constantine story, I just poked around some of the Constantine lj communities. They're dead! They're all dead! Even in the ones where people have posted stories recently, there are no comments.

Well, if people are posting stories, doesn't that mean that they're looking at the site? If you comment on their stories, any chance they might comment on yours? (Sorry, I'm not wise in the ways of comments on fanfic. I don't really know how this works.)

Oh, but that would be intelligent! Why would I want to do that? (honestly, I haven't been reading these stories because they've all been bizarre pairings. Where's the gen, I ask you?)

Well, yes. But...umm...if no one is commenting because they're bad stories...then people will decide the board is dead...and not submit good stories...and then there will be no good stories...I'm sorry, I'll stop being logical now.

Absolutely! Which is why I'm working away so hard on my Shadow fic! And by working hard I mean leaving it to grow mold in the back of my hard drive because there is no Shadow fandom.

Try submitting it to ff.net and places like that with browsing traffic. At least you'll know it will be come upon more often and then hopefully peopel will see it and comment. More viewers, better chance for commentary.

Well, I know on ashen_wings most of the people link the story to their own LJ, thus the lack of comments on the fic site itself. Have heart, hon. I've come to the conclusion that unless you're writing John/Chas or John/Balthazar, you'll only reach a certain segment of the fandom - but we're nice and have discriminating taste and leave feedback, yesprecious.

Been debating on deleting constancanon actually. I have ambitions for an archive, but... Hrm.

Oh sad! Nobody posts there now, true, but some of the threads have a lot of good info on various minutia of the movie. It's a good resource, if nothing else.

You read mine, and I'll read yours. :D Um, not that I wouldn't read yours anyway, but you know -- I'm feeling obnoxious with the three-day weekend, hee! I really liked that story you wrote a while back, so YAY ivy!fic.

The fandom's small, and a majority of people seem only interested in writing smut (which, hey, I'm all for, but them's slim intellectual pickins and I like me some diversity), and usually it's smut about characters I could care less about, and the characterization of John is horrific, and...yeah. I'm telling you: John making Chas pancakes was the death-knell of the fandom in its first two weeks. The horror!

We desperately need Gen, so hell yes, post that baby.

As for CC... Yeah, the intention was to be the be-all, end-all resource for movie!canon, and there is great stuff lurking over there. I just need to figure out whether I want to keep it on LJ and supplement it with a website, or transfer all the musings over to a website. I know Dee wants to do a (discriminating) fic archive, and we'd talked about joining forces before, so... Who knows? At least I know someone else appreciated the thought behind its inception. ;)
