Why the hell aren't the Farscape episodes in sequential order on the DVD? Disc 1 has the pilot and episode 7. Disc 2 has ep 2&4; disc 3 has 3&6; disc 4 has 5&8 ... what the hell? This is going to make watching the damn show confusing as heck, since I'll only be getting a few discs at a time, so there's no chance of actually watching them in order.

You know, for a good show, Farscape sure goes out of its way to annoy fans.

Perhaps they're trying to force you to purchase the DVDs, rather than renting them one at a time from someplace like Netflix. It would be devious, but clever.

I'm fairly sure that this set came out before Netflix was really big. The only reason I can think is that they thought the first few episodes after the pilot were really weak, so shuffled things around to put better episodes up front before everyone decided the show was crap.

But still. It's annoying.

Um, could you link the products? There are currently at LEAST two releases of the first season -- the one I have, by the commentary and other indications, is in proper order, and I thought the other release is in BIG chunks.

Though if memory serves, production order =/= airing order =/= proper order for the first season of Farscape.

Oh, it's one of those shows, with such a complicated production history fans will debate till doomsday what the order should be.

The release I'm looking at is the one they have on Netflix. (http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=60004045&trkid=90529)

That's a disadvantage of having to go through Netflix; I don't get to choose which issue I want to watch. Hopefully this one has all the extras (if extras there be).

I seem to remember coming across this release in a Blockbuster, where the discs had been grouped into "Best of" types of volumes, so I think I've seen the first two discs already. Guess I'll find out when they arrive.

Actually, not to nitpick the BSD, but I was fairly sure, season 2 aside, all eps were fairly in order. Season 2 was quasi-fucked by the fact that the Sci-Fi Channel powers-that-be weren't happy with O'Bannon and crew monkeying around with the start of a season that ended with a cliffhanger. The original ep 1 of season 2 wasn't going to address the cliffhanger but instead follow the people who weren't in immediate danger and eventually have them wind back to the folks that were by ep 2. This was nixed, and the ep that should have been 1 reappeared later in the season as a flashback/dream sequence mixture. I believe the ep 1-that-was is on the Starbust edition's Season 2, disc 1 as it was meant to be, but I cannot comment because, despite owning that disc, I haven't watched it.

That all said, I don't own the first season of that release, so I'm not sure why they screwed around with the order, if they did. I do, however, have $40 to use at Best Buy, and your need inspires me. I shall have to pick up the first two discs of the Starburst edition before writing group and loan them to you. Then you'll have all of season 1 and the first seven or so eps of season 2.

Hey, why not? I am going to buy it, and having in mind what to frickin' buy ahead of going to Best Buy helps me not waste time.

And I do have those coupons!
