TMW you get into a new TV fandom and try to decide if you should read the epic fantasy series it's based on or just the equivalent volume of fic. (...I think the fic will win.)

Also, finding out that the first two seasons of Witcher are based on short story collections rather than novels makes the otherwise completely baffling structure of season one make a heck of a lot more sense.

I watched the first few episodes of Resident Alien and then, on my dad's recommendation, read the original comic series. They are radically different things. The TV show is Alan Tudyk as an evil fish-out-of-water; the comic is a genial "Miss Marple as an alien" set of cozy whodunits.
