For real, though, this adaptation fixes some of the sexism of the Orpheus myth by making it Eurydice's choice to go to the underworld, and then making the man who came to save her fail. So I'm picturing an Act III where Eurydice leads the people of Hadestown on a revolt and frees them all.
(Fantastic show--I'm buying the Broadway cast recording when it comes out. Hades is worth the price of admission alone.)

Date: 2019-05-12 01:42 am (UTC)I prepared to teach the folk opera album a few weeks ago yet again, and when I looked for the clips I realized there was so much more! But sadly there wasn't enough for me to really compare the two. But I love the original version and adding dance can only make it better :)
