Rewatching The Matrix, I'm noticing a few things:

- God damn, this movie loves its magical negroes.

- The holes in the world-building really are quite painful. (We scorched the skies cause the machines are solar powered? SO ARE WE. What the hell do you think we eat?)

- Laurence Fishburne's slow motion face during the rescue was stupid looking the first time I watched it, and it still is.

- Say what you want about Keanu's acting skills, but the guy just knows how to look cool. That's not easy. (See previous point about Fishburne's face.)

- You know that bit where Neo walks through the metal detector with all the guns, then just shoots a bunch of guards, sitting there, reading the paper? Yeah. That's not actually fun to watch anymore, not after the attack on TSA agents. All the rest of it, where people are shooting at them, and they're shooting back and doing cartwheels and kung fu, that's all still action-y fun. But can't say that I enjoy watching the gunning down of people in cold blood.

- I had not realized that Person of Interest stole from The Matrix quite so much.

It's also funny that I say that I hate post-apocalyptic, yet two of my top five movies of all time, this and Terminator 2, are both post-apocalyptic. Only reason I can think of to explain it is that both of those movies spend a substantial portion of the film, if not almost all of it, in the present day, which I think makes a difference to me as a viewer.
