Merlin's back!

All I keep thinking is...god, I wish that had been a two-parter. For a moment, when Merlin was walking out of the mist at the end, I thought that was how they were going. And how awesome would that have been? Evil, super-powerful, possessed Merlin! Manipulating Arthur, fomenting rebellion, sewing magical destruction...then you could have an enormous showy, special effects showdown with him hurling thunderbolts or something and Arthur all pained and no! Merlin no! and Gaius trying to convince Uther that Merlin's possessed... And you could even get away with all of that without having to reveal Merlin's secret magic. Because when he's been freed from the sorceror, presumably by Gaius in some clever scheme with Gwen and Morgana's help, you could explain all of the magic as just the sorceror possessing him. Then things could be all tense between him and Arthur, with Merlin walking on eggshells, terrified of what Arthur thinks of him, and Arthur feeling upset over what was down to Merlin, but residual fear from when he thought it actually was Merlin doing everything...
It would have been awesome.
In comparison, waving a glowy heart around was a bit of a let down.
Also, can I just say I don't buy that Arthur would think Merlin voluntarily took a nap with his face in a pile of manure. The way I'm reading all his prattishness is, after the emo events of last season, with almost dying, and bedside confessions, and all that confusing emotional stuff, Arthur is feeling very exposed and a little vulnerable at the moment, and perhaps a bit suspicious that Merlin might have done something or might have been trying to give his life for him, and as a reaction to all of this he is using Cedric to put a little distance between him and Merlin again. Cause I don't believe for a second that Arthur could possibly have been snowed by that. I think he was just taking the opportunity to maybe pull back from the emotional cliff of last season. That's what I'm going with.
But yay! Merlin's back! With lots and lots of half naked Arthur ordering Merlin around! This season looks awesome. Slash meter up to eleven.
