Make Me a Supermodel
Mar. 11th, 2009 10:21 pmYes, I am typing this as episode two airs, but I meant to last week.
Is it just me or is everyone bitchier this season? Maybe I’m misremembering, but it seems like last season they were pretty congenial until the competition (and the producers) brought out the cattiness. On these Bravo shows, it seems like they cast characters, but they compete on talent. They lucked out last year with the bromancce. This is more like they cast bitchy people with the hopes of getting people to hook up with each other.
They also jumped riiiight in with the homoerotic tension. Nothing like putting the homophobic (“I’m straight! Really!”) guy in his underwear with the androgynous gay guy in the first episode. And episode two is body paint. Well, at least it has the “torture the models” attitude from season one down.
Let’s talk about Salome. First of all, why would a religious family name their daughter Salome? Did they want her to dance around in public in her underwear? Second, why is it pronounced like “salami”? I don’t get it. Also, way to start off the first episode by declaring war on all the other female contestants.
It looks to be an interesting season, but I already miss season one. I miss my Ben and Ronnie (and Casey and Perry). So far no one here is grabbing my attention, but it’s early days.
