Puny mortal. I wasn't allowed to turn the thermostat up in our house past 68 as a child. I used to point out to my parents that if it were that temperature outside, I'd be wearing a jacket, but this got me no sympathy whatsoever and moved the thermometer meter not at all.
Apparently, the cold made our building alarms malfunction this morning, which, for some no doubt legitimate reason, makes the heat turn off. Um, yeah. For the first time ever, I wished I had an office in the interior without a window.
We had a company-wide videoconferencing staff meeting today, and the Boston crew were quite shocked to see all of us in NY sitting around the conference table in coats, hats, scarves and gloves. Our office felt like all the windows were wide open, so I sympathize. And then we had ice cream cake for someone's birthday. Heh.
That's ... an effective response to the cold. We got an email from office services that said, "We are aware of the temperature in the office. We are working to resolve the issue." I hope they're aware of the temperature in the office, since they're in the office too. *sigh* Hopefully it will be better tomorrow.
