Obligatory New Year's post

Happy New Year, y'all! Instead of doing a real meme, I'm making up my own.
Year in Review
New fandoms in 2006 (in chronological order by date of addiction)
Hard Core Logo
Horatio Hornblower
King Arthur (movie)
I can't put SGA on this list, but 2006 saw the viewing of far too many movies and TV shows starring David Hewlett or Joe Flanigan, so I'm including SGA 6 degrees fandom
Sentinel
Highlander (OK, yes, I saw it before, but didn't read the fic till last year)
Supernatural
New things in fannish life in 2006
-First time attending a fan-run slash con (yay con.txt!). It was a blast and I met many cool people -- thanks to
sydni_64 for making me go!
-First story over 10,000 words (Third Day, Constantine)
-First utter failure to do a challenge I promised to do (well, everything can't be positive)... sorry
mensa_au
-And, well, maybe this isn't a first, but I hung out in person with many new people in fandom, leading to much loud squealing about inappropriate topics in public places
Fannish resolutions for 2007
1) Finish the G&%D*@$ King Arthur AU. For those of you still out there hoping that someday there'll be an update to that story I posted in May -- yes, I'm still working on it. It is not going well, as my writing group will attest. But someday it will be done! And posted! I promise! I have the plot all planned out but argh. A few weeks ago I realized that I've been working on this story for as long as
trakkie has known me. Which is...pathetic. And leads me to...
2) I will not post WIPs. No more. From now on, stories will be complete and spit-polished before showing up on lj. Posting in parts leads to madness.
3) I will not graft a novel-length plot onto a cracked out plot bunny. Seriously, next time I launch on a sixty-page story with an idea that should only be ten pages, somebody kick me.
And that's all the navel-gazing I can handle at a time.
