There are so many good Lindsay Ellis videos. So many. I had a hard time picking one to recommend—do I choose The Whole Plate, her project to teach you what you’d learn in film school, but only using Transformers movies as examples? Or, how about the truly excellent trilogy of videos explaining why the Hobbit was bad. And she’s not talking about narratively. She’s talking about how it led to lobbying that broke labor unions in New Zealand. Or her extremely meta video on how youtube creators manufacture intimacy to hook their audiences? Her rant about the Phantom of the Opera movie? Or the most recent videos, on the totally bananas omega!verse lawsuit that she somehow found herself embroiled in?

This channel is a joy, is what I’m getting at. I think I will go with, though, her video on the Beauty and the Beast remake. There is nothing quite like hearing a very well-informed true fan of Disney explain exactly why this new woke!Disney thing is not working out for her.
