The weird thing about the earthquake yesterday is that my mental image of an earthquake, which is strictly from tv--camera shaking, deep bass rumbling--has not really changed even though that wasn't what I experienced. The only sound I heard was the squeaking of the ceiling beams. And this building moves in the wind, or if someone is doing renovations, which have been going on most of the time I've been here. So it felt like many other times my floor has shaken--it just lasted longer and made my office door shake.

And then five minutes later I was back at work.

The US Geological Survey has a site that crowdsources information about earthquakes. If you're interested, take a minute to fill out the form at Did You Feel It? and look at a graph of reported responses.

This weekend is apparently Batstock. Oh, how I love the emails I get from Bat Conservation International.

ETA: OMG that is the worst website ever. I'm clicking around and can't even figure out where it is.
