ivyficI was just in the mart next door to my apartment trying to find candy corn. It's October, right? There should be candy corn. I didn't see any on the shelves so I asked the cashier where the candy corn was. Totally blank stare. She called over two guys from the deli counter and they sort of looked at each other and went, "candy...corn?" OK, guess they don't have it.
This would have been amusing enough, but the guy next to me then asks them for margarine. More blank stares. He then attempts to explain what margarine is: "You know, it's like butter but not." Nothin'. "The other vegetable?" (Which - what? Since when is margarine the other vegetable?) "There's this thing called 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.'" "Oh, yes, butter is over there." "No, it's not butter, it's margarine." Back to blank stares.
