Stargate: SG-1 has been cancelled. About time. This show has been on its last legs for a while. I'm sad that it's been on the air for so long that the finale will inevitably be about the Ori and the current mythology instead of any resolution I would have hoped for a few seasons ago.

My only worry is that Atlantis won't last too long without SG-1. I mean -- look at what happened to Angel.

I think, though, after last week's episode, that SG-1 should just do cracktastic episodes for the rest of the season. That was by far the best episode this season. They may have run out of dramatic material, but the crack never runs dry.

Do you think the finale will actually have the Furlings?

So whatever happened to the Goa'uld, anyway?

"but the crack never runs dry."
Please never, ever say or write this phrase again.

Oh, some of them are still around (notably Ba'al), but the System Lords were wiped out by the Replicators. Apophis died a couple of times. The Jaffa have their own free nation, now.

wow, i don't know how long it's been since i've seen an episode of this show....there was one ep when they went back to the sixties that was kind of funny - but that was probably a few seasons ago... :-P definitely before what's-his-face got hair...i read about the cancellation of the show on the bbc news website - i didn't even know that the brits cared about SG1 - apparently it's the longest running sci-fi show on american tv. cool :-P

That was 1969 in season 2, so yeah. Been a while.

definitely before what's-his-face got hair
Teal'c got hair in season 8 or 9.

And do you know what the longest running sci fi show is?

longest running sci fi show? i would have to say the bbc's "dr. who" which is a personal favorite of mine (not the new incarnation of it, btw) - tom baker all the way!!! :-D it was on for like 30 years, then disappeared, and has now returned all new and rather annoying. :-P

That's it! You don't like the new one? I've not seen it in any incarnation, but I've heard a lot of good things about the latest.

well, the new one is ok...but the older versions had a certain flair. now he's got this magic screwdriver that like gets him out of everything - sort of like a batman tool-belt, which dr. who just shouldn't have. the older series has a certain charm that this one doesn't - and i think it's partly (majorly) because of billie piper - she plays dr. who's ordinary-girl sidekick (she is famous in the UK for i don't know what reason - she was like some kind of one hit wonder pop star, and then married her producer who's like 598453948545 years older than her, a la mariah carey and celine dion). she's leaving the show, thank goodness, but then going on to play fanny price in an adaptation of mansfield park (jane austen - my GREAT love, as you know)! i was so dismayed to read this news. the woman cannot act. bleh. she's just blonde with big boobs :-P and i don't even think she's naturally blonde. well, we'll see who they replace her with. (they wanted to make a dr. who spinoff about just her character! which i thought was preposterous, and thankfully, they scrapped the idea) also, the latest dr. whos have been on the younger, hipper side. it was the geekiness of the show that was so awesome. but it's become popular again in the UK, and i think sci-fi is supposed to start showing the new eps in the US at some point. the new ones aren't bad, per se. the old version had no sophisticated special effects or anything like that. it was like flying-by-the-seat-of-your-pants sci fi. :-P
