The plague is spreading

I just found out that Kevin J. Anderson has done a whole series of Dune books. Now, even as someone who hasn't read Dune, I recognize this for the sacrilege it is. Is nothing sacred? Is there no scifi canon this man will not taint?

Date: 2006-02-16 04:27 pm (UTC)I admit to being incredibly lured in by the "House" series of Dune prequels. A lot of them were actually really good, story-wise, though realizing who Kevin J Anderson is has suddenly made clear why I found a lot of what happened in those books utterly incompatible with the canon series.... (Ix, oh God, Ix, what they did there!)
Really, I was just stoked for more Dune and snapped up House Atreides, House Harkonnen, and House Corino, and I think I might own the first two in paperback form, but gave up when they actually went through the Jihadi period.
After Rebecca's birthday party, you might be interested to know that Tim Curry reads those three books on tape. It's a sheer delight, on the order of Jim Dale, I tell you, to have Tim Curry sneer and snap as Baron HARK-o-nen (whereas the film had it as Har-KON-nen) or the syncophantic friend of the emperor.... ::Cheeeee!::
