Just for

According to a report I heard on NPR (which makes it true, don't ya know), the reason that the movie industry is not doing well this year is...
*drumroll*
...the movies suck.
That's right, less people will spend money to watch White Chicks than, say, Jaws. Who knew.

You know, this is going to provoke another tangental whinge-fest on my LJ. I can't believe people didn't like White Chicks, too. ::sticks finger down throat::
I have a new theory on top of movies costing too damn much: there are TOO MANY DAMN MOVIES OPENING EVERY WEEKEND. I checked last weekend because nothing seemed to be coming out, and there were no less than three studio movies, with two--TWO!--dumb horror movies just released to make a little cash before going straight to video (strangely enough, my little sister saw one of them, too). I seriously couldn't believe one nothing-weekend in September had that many movies opening then...Three-four a week is manageable, depending on their size and audience appeal, but like seven? No thank you!
