Supernatural 3x02

Oh, Ruby Sue. But don't take my word for it.

According to the Mary Sue Litmus Test, you score a 41. Just based on these two episodes. As you accumulate more backstory, I'm sure your score will increase.

"36-55 points: Mary-Sue. Your character needs some work in order to be believable. But despair not; you should still be able to salvage her with a little effort. Don't give up."

This episode, she has unnecessarily antagonistic conversations with Sam. She knows everything about everything. She send him on a hunt. She dodges all questions about herself. She reveals she's a demon in an unnecessarily showy manner. And most upsetting of all, almost every second of Sam's screen time this episode was with her. Not Dean. That is what I fear the most.

For every fandom I get into, I construct a Mary Sue. I create her storyline. I work out her plot. Then I burn it from my brain cause no one ever needs to read it. Once the Mary Sue impulse is purged, I can go forth and write fic.

Let's just say, if I wrote my Mary Sue, she would sound...pretty much exactly like Ruby. She tells Sam all about himself. She reveals things about herself in a flippant way meant to shock him. She has all the knowledge and all the control. It is this similarity to my inner Mary Sue that disturbs me.

Making her a demon wins some points because at least now she's an antagonist. But she better have an evil plot cause if she turns out to be the only demon on the side of the angels I will burn Kripke's corpse in effigy. Another Meg I can deal with. Angel suddenly showing up--no. Just no.

Yeah, other than enjoying the Dean-Ben moments I wasn't impressed, and I thought Buffy Sue was dumb and annoying.
