I also noted the generic Muslim terrorist issue and am irritated that it persists today. I have to disagree with #2, though--in Marty's original timeline, Chuck Berry still wrote it. My guess is that Marty playing it made the Chuck Berry in the new timeline go "OH MY GOD I'VE HAD THAT IN MY HEAD FOR YEARS" and finally put the pen to paper--a little early. I doubt he like, cribbed it. As for the rape thing... well I don't think the movie wanted you to feel like it was going to go that far (the impression I got, from him telling his friends he would be there "in a few minutes," was that they wanted you to believe he was just going to cop a feel and maybe force some inappropriate touching), which is a) still gross and awful and disturbing, don't get me wrong; and b) ridiculous and disingenuous and totally a gloss over what probably would have actually happened in that scenario if it hadn't been a movie. But yeah. He's not touching my car. Or going near my kids.
