That makes sense. I was leaving John's death out of Dean's view of God because clearly John dying and Dean living is not the will of God. Mary was an innocent when she died. John sold his soul. So maybe what Dean is having a problem with is either a) a world where that would be the only option left to a father or b) a world where a self-sacrifice of that magnitude leads to eternal damnation.
