In looking through some fanlore articles for this, I was reminded of TPTB--the way we always referred to the showrunners. Like, they were what they were. There's no assumption in that phrase that we could change that at all. Media just was what it was, and fandom was something we did on the side to get what we wanted out of it. Which doesn't mean we weren't having critical conversations about it, we were.
I'm just still not comfortable with an interactive paradigm of fannishness. I don't want to talk to the stars, I don't want them to influence the fandom. I want to be on my fan island. Which--here I am, on DW.
